What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the web site, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the web site can download and extract any location data from images on the web site.
We collect your submitted information through our contact forms. This may include things like your first name, last name, email address, and more. This information is not stored on our server, and will only be sent to our server to transmit data by the mail system. We will not use this data in any way other than explicitly stated on the form and prompt for your consent to do so.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and web site in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded Content From Other Web Sites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other web sites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other web site.
We use the “custom audience pixel” from Facebook Inc on our web site. This enables us to measure the effectiveness of our Facebook ads for statistical, marketing, and market research purposes. The data collected in this way is anonymous to us, i.e. we do not see the personal data of individual users. However, this data is stored and processed by Facebook. Facebook may link this information to your Facebook account and also use it for its own promotional purposes, in accordance with Facebook’s Data Usage Policy. You can allow Facebook and its partners to place ads on and off Facebook. A cookie may also be stored on your computer for these purposes. You can object to the collection of your data by Facebook pixel, or to the use of your data for the purpose of displaying Facebook ads by managing your ad settings at Facebook Ads Settings. Facebook is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and thus guarantees compliance with European data protection legislation.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not share any of your private data with any third-party advertisers or marketers.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely unless otherwise stated. This is to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. This is basic WordPress functionality to provide a streamlined user experience for commenting.
For users that register on our web site (if applicable), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Web site administrators can also see and edit that information.
Google Analytics data is stored for 26 months, or until web site administrators determine such historical records irrelevant for improving our web site experience.
Facebook Pixel data is stored for 1-180 days.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where We Send Your Data
This site also uses Akismet to reduce comment spam. If you leave a comment on our blog, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. Visit their parent site, Automattic, to learn how your comment data is processed by Akismet for redundant spam identification.
